How to use your phone as a webcam in OBS, Zoom and Teams

Updated 26 September 2026 · 4 min read

Short answer

Open ByteMirror's camera page in Safari on an iPhone, or the ByteMirror app on Android, then add the phone's camera in OBS Studio as a ByteMirror Phone source. For Zoom, Teams or Meet, click Start Virtual Camera in OBS and pick OBS Virtual Camera in the call app.

A recent phone camera is sharper than most laptop webcams and many USB ones. ByteMirror sends it to your Windows PC over Wi-Fi.

On an iPhone there's nothing to install: a page in Safari sends the camera. On Android, the ByteMirror app sends the camera and the mic.

Steps

  1. 1Open the camera on the phoneiPhone: in ByteMirror click Add phone, choose iPhone camera, and scan the code with the Camera app, then allow the camera in Safari. Android: pair with the ByteMirror app and choose Camera.
  2. 2Add it to OBSIn OBS Studio, click + under Sources, choose ByteMirror Phone and pick the phone's camera.
  3. 3Use it in a callClick Start Virtual Camera in OBS. In Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, choose OBS Virtual Camera as the camera.

Tips

Keep Safari open with the screen on while you stream from an iPhone. Put the phone on a small tripod at eye level, facing a window or a lamp. The back camera is the better one; use it and check the framing in the ByteMirror preview.
