About ByteMirror.
ByteMirror started with one annoyance. Getting a phone game into OBS on a Windows PC meant buying a capture card, juggling apps that each handled one kind of phone, or giving up on the game's sound.
So we built one app for both. An iPhone can come in over the cable you charge it with, without iTunes, or over AirPlay. An Android phone can come in through our app over Wi-Fi, or over USB debugging. Either phone's camera can be your webcam. It all shows up in one window and as one kind of source in OBS Studio, with sound.
The video stays on your own network, and the app runs well on an ordinary laptop: the phone does the encoding and your graphics card does the decoding. The free version has every feature, so you can try all of it before you pay.
Who we are
ByteMirror is made by ByteKnot Labs LLP, an independent software company in India founded by Dhruv. Releases are tested on real iPhones and Android phones before they ship.
How we handle data
- Your phone's video, sound and camera go straight to your PC over the cable or your own network. They never reach our servers.
- If you buy a plan, your account (email, name if you give it, plan) is stored with Google Firebase. Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller; we never see your card number.
- The website counts page visits and button clicks with PostHog, without cookies and without your name or email.
- If you join a waitlist, we keep your email only to write to you about it.
The privacy policy has the details, including how long we keep each thing and how to have it deleted.
