End-user license agreement

Last updated 30 September 2026

This agreement is between you and ByteKnot Labs LLP ("we" or "us"). It sets out how you may install and use the ByteMirror software. By installing or using ByteMirror, you accept it. If you don't accept it, don't install or use ByteMirror.

If you install ByteMirror for a company or team, you confirm that you're allowed to accept this agreement on its behalf.

The software

This agreement covers:

  • The ByteMirror Windows app, including its background engine
  • The ByteMirror source for OBS Studio (a plugin)
  • The ByteMirror Android app
  • The iPhone camera page, which the Windows app serves to devices on your local network

It also covers updates to these, unless an update comes with its own terms. Your account, payments and use of the website are covered by the terms of service.

Your license

We give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use ByteMirror within the limits of your plan. You can move a Lifetime license to a new PC from your account page.

ByteKnot Labs LLP and its licensors own ByteMirror. This agreement gives you a license to use it and no other rights, apart from the rights that open-source licenses give you.

Plan limits

Your plan sets what you can do:

  • The free plan includes every feature at 720p and 30 frames per second, with one phone at a time. There's no watermark for the first 7 days after you first launch ByteMirror on a PC. From then on, the first 30 minutes of each day have no watermark, and a small watermark appears after that.
  • Pro gives you 1080p at 60 frames per second with no watermark and up to 5 phones at once, on 2 PCs.
  • Lifetime gives you Pro features and updates up to and including version 1.x, on one PC.
  • Studio limits are set in your Studio contract.

Plan checks

To use a paid plan, you sign in to the Windows app through your browser. The app then checks your plan with our servers about once a day. It keeps working offline for up to 7 days, then falls back to the free plan until it can check again. Each signed-in PC is listed on your account page, where you can sign it out.

On the free plan, the app registers the PC with our servers using a one-way hash of its hardware identifiers, so the 7-day period applies once per PC. The privacy policy explains what we store.

What you may not do

You may not:

  • Remove, hide or get around the watermark, the free plan's time limits, plan checks or license verification
  • Sell, resell, rent or sublicense ByteMirror, or let others use a paid plan through your account
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble ByteMirror, except where the law or an open-source license allows it
  • Remove copyright or license notices from ByteMirror
  • Use ByteMirror to break the law or to infringe anyone else's rights

You're responsible for what you capture, record and stream with ByteMirror, and for having the right to use it.

Open-source components

ByteMirror includes open-source components. Each one is licensed under its own license, as listed on the open-source notices page. Nothing in this agreement limits the rights those licenses give you.

The iPhone USB driver

To use an iPhone over a USB cable, the Windows app installs the libusb-win32 USB driver for that iPhone, after you allow a Windows permission prompt. It only does this for iPhones you choose to set up. While ByteMirror uses the iPhone over USB, iTunes and Apple Devices can't see it.

You can give the iPhone back to Apple's driver from the app at any time. Uninstalling ByteMirror gives your iPhones back to Apple's driver.

Apple, Google and the OBS Project

Apple and Google update iOS, Android and AirPlay regularly, and an update can stop a ByteMirror feature from working. We don't guarantee that ByteMirror will work with every phone or with future versions of these systems.

ByteMirror isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Google or the OBS Project. iPhone and AirPlay are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. Android is a trademark of Google LLC. Other names are trademarks of their owners.

Updates

We publish updates on this website. An update can fix problems, add features or change how existing features work.

No warranty

To the extent the law allows, ByteMirror is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that it will work without interruptions or errors, or that it will suit a particular purpose.

If you're a consumer, you keep the rights that consumer law gives you and that a contract can't take away.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for ByteMirror in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data, or a lost stream or recording.

Nothing in this agreement limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending this agreement

You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling ByteMirror. If you break it, we may end your license, and you must then stop using ByteMirror and delete it. If a paid plan ends, your license continues on the free plan.

The sections on warranty, liability and governing law still apply after this agreement ends.

Export laws

You must follow the export control and sanctions laws that apply to you and to ByteMirror. Don't use or export ByteMirror where those laws forbid it.

Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of India. The courts of [city], India have jurisdiction over any dispute about it. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
