Question 1

My iPhone doesn't show up over the cable.

Accepted Answer

Unlock the iPhone and use a cable that carries data (some charging-only cables don't). If ByteMirror says the cable needs setting up, accept it and allow the Windows prompt. If the iPhone never asks to trust the PC, restart the iPhone and plug it in again.

Question 2

My PC doesn't appear in Screen Mirroring.

Accepted Answer

Keep ByteMirror open and put the PC and the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi. If Windows lists your network as Public, change it to Private in Settings, Network and internet, so Windows lets AirPlay through. Some office and hotel networks block AirPlay; use the cable there.

Question 3

Can I switch my iPhone back to iTunes or Apple Devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Right-click the iPhone in ByteMirror and give it back to Apple's driver. To use it with ByteMirror over the cable again, set it up again from the same menu.

Question 4

Why does the mirrored screen always show 9:41?

Accepted Answer

During cable capture, iOS shows a clean status bar that reads 9:41 with a full battery. The phone itself shows the real time and charge.

Question 5

The Android app stops streaming after a few minutes.

Accepted Answer

The phone's battery saver is closing it. Open the phone's battery settings, find ByteMirror and allow it to run in the background. Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones need this most.

Question 6

My phone isn't found in Pro mode.

Accepted Answer

Turn on USB debugging in Developer options, plug the phone in and tap Allow on the prompt. On Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco, also turn on USB debugging (Security settings).

Question 7

There's no game sound.

Accepted Answer

The ByteMirror app needs Android 10 or later for sound, and Pro mode needs Android 11 or later. Some games block screen capture of their sound; that can't be changed from the PC.

Question 8

I can't find the ByteMirror Phone source in OBS.

Accepted Answer

Run the ByteMirror installer again with the OBS Studio option ticked, then restart OBS. The source needs OBS Studio 31 or later.

Question 9

The ByteMirror source is black.

Accepted Answer

Check that the phone is connected in ByteMirror. With AirPlay, if you added the source after mirroring started and it stays black, stop Screen Mirroring on the iPhone and start it again.

Question 10

Can OBS use the phone without the ByteMirror window open?

Accepted Answer

Yes. OBS starts ByteMirror in the background when a source needs a phone.

Question 11

How do I sign in to the app?

Accepted Answer

Click Sign in in ByteMirror. Your browser opens this website; sign in there and the app is signed in. Each signed-in PC is listed on your account page, where you can sign it out.

Question 12

Does a paid plan work offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The app checks your plan about once a day and keeps your plan for up to 7 days without internet.

Question 13

How do I move Lifetime to a new PC?

Accepted Answer

Sign out the old PC from your account page, then sign in on the new one.

Question 14
