How to mirror an iPhone to a Windows PC with a USB cable, without iTunes

Updated 26 September 2026 · 4 min read

Short answer

Install ByteMirror on the Windows PC, plug the iPhone in with its USB-C or Lightning cable, accept ByteMirror's one-time USB driver setup and tap Trust on the iPhone. The screen appears with its sound. iTunes, the Apple Devices app and Wi-Fi aren't needed.

Most ways to mirror an iPhone to Windows use AirPlay over Wi-Fi, which stutters on busy networks. A cable is steadier, and it charges the phone while you mirror.

ByteMirror mirrors over USB using the same screen-capture mode a Mac uses with QuickTime. It installs its own driver, so iTunes and Apple Devices aren't involved.

Steps

  1. 1Install ByteMirrorDownload ByteMirror for Windows 10 or 11 and run the installer.
  2. 2Connect the iPhonePlug in the iPhone with its USB-C or Lightning cable and unlock it. ByteMirror lists it and offers to set up the USB driver; accept it and allow the Windows prompt.
  3. 3Trust the PCTap Trust on the iPhone and enter your passcode. This happens once per PC.
  4. 4Open the previewClick the iPhone in ByteMirror. Its screen appears with sound, and you can play the sound on the PC or keep it muted.

Switching back to iTunes

While ByteMirror drives the iPhone over USB, iTunes and Apple Devices can't see it. Right-click the iPhone in ByteMirror and give it back to Apple's driver whenever you need them.

Why the clock says 9:41

During cable capture, iOS shows a clean status bar with 9:41 and a full battery. The phone itself shows the real time and charge.
