How to use an iPhone as a webcam on Windows

Updated 3 October 2026 · 4 min read

Short answer

In ByteMirror on the PC, click Add phone, choose iPhone camera and scan the code with the iPhone's Camera app; a ByteMirror page opens in Safari and sends the camera over Wi-Fi. Add it to OBS Studio as a ByteMirror Phone source, and use the OBS Virtual Camera for Zoom, Teams or Meet. It needs iOS 16.4 or later.

Apple's own way of using an iPhone as a webcam works only with a Mac. On Windows you need another app.

ByteMirror doesn't: the iPhone side is a web page in Safari, served by ByteMirror on your own PC, so the video stays on your network.

Steps

  1. 1Install ByteMirrorDownload ByteMirror for Windows 10 or 11 and run the installer, with the OBS Studio option ticked.
  2. 2Scan the codeIn ByteMirror, click Add phone and choose iPhone camera. Scan the code with the iPhone's Camera app. Safari opens the camera page.
  3. 3Get past the certificate warning onceThe first time, Safari warns about your PC's security certificate. ByteMirror shows the taps that get past it. Then allow the camera.
  4. 4Add it to OBS, or use it in a callIn OBS Studio, add a ByteMirror Phone source and pick the iPhone's camera. For a video call, click Start Virtual Camera in OBS and choose OBS Virtual Camera in Zoom, Teams or Meet.

Front or back camera

The camera page lets you switch between the front and back cameras, and has a switch for the iPhone's microphone. The back camera is usually the better one.

Keep it running

Keep Safari open with the screen on while you record or stream. The iPhone camera works over Wi-Fi; the USB cable carries the iPhone's screen, not its camera.

Try it with your phone
