How to get your Android screen and game audio into OBS

Updated 26 September 2026 · 5 min read

Short answer

Install ByteMirror on the PC and the ByteMirror app on the phone, pair them by scanning a code, share the screen from the app, then add a ByteMirror Phone source in OBS Studio. Picture and game sound come in together. Game sound needs Android 10 or later with the app, or Android 11 or later over USB debugging.

Screen mirroring tools often show the picture but leave the game's sound on the phone. ByteMirror captures both and sends them to OBS Studio as one source.

There are two ways to connect. The ByteMirror app works over Wi-Fi with no developer settings. Pro mode uses USB debugging and a cable, and installs nothing on the phone.

Steps

  1. 1Install ByteMirror on the PCRun the Windows installer with the OBS Studio option ticked.
  2. 2Pair the phoneInstall the ByteMirror app on the phone. On the PC, click Add phone, then scan the code with the app. Or, for Pro mode, turn on USB debugging and plug the phone in.
  3. 3Share the screenIn the app, choose the game screen and allow screen sharing. In Pro mode, click the phone in ByteMirror.
  4. 4Add the source in OBSIn OBS Studio, click + under Sources, choose ByteMirror Phone and pick the phone. The screen and the game's sound come in together.

Android versions

Game sound needs Android 10 or later with the app, and Android 11 or later in Pro mode. On versions before Android 13, the phone may go quiet while it shares its sound.

If the stream stops

Battery savers close apps running in the background. Allow ByteMirror to run in the background in the phone's battery settings; Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco phones need this most.

Try it with your phone

ByteMirror is free to start. No account needed.
